What is the religious ruling regarding someone who swore to remember Allah before his birth?

If a person intends by his oath that he mentioned Allah before his life, then his oath is a false oath ( ghamus). He must repent and seek forgiveness, and there is no expiation due upon him according to the majority of scholars. Some scholars hold that expiation is obligatory, and this is more cautious for the religion.
