Does the Prophet's—peace and blessings be upon him—hadith: "Stay in your home, control your tongue, attend to your own private affairs, and leave aside the affairs of the common people," contradict striving for the benefit of Islam and Muslims in this era when corruption has become widespread and the voice of Islam has diminished?

Inviting to Allah is a great and virtuous obligation. It is emphatically incumbent upon a Muslim to exert every available means to teach people good and invite them [to Allah]. A Muslim must be keen to support his religion to the best of his ability and cooperate with those who work for the religion. As for the hadith, "Stay in your home," it is interpreted to apply when there is no one who will listen or assist in the call [to Allah]; otherwise, mixing with people and patiently enduring their harm is better. The hadith, "Attend to yourselves," indicates that enjoining good and forbidding evil is an obligation unless there is no one who will benefit or cooperate with the Muslim.
