The father does not have the right to reject a suitor who is religious and of good character due to tribal differences. It is advised to make abundant supplications. An attempt can be made to convince the father through influential individuals. If he is not convinced, the girl has the right to refer the matter to a Sharia judge, or to be patient and await relief. It is permissible for a woman to seek a suitor whom the father would accept. Disliking the father's actions inwardly is not held against one, but one must be careful not to commit disobedience towards him in word or deed.
