What is the ruling regarding a husband who swore by divorce and by what is unlawful five times with the intention of threatening, and how can his intention be known after a long time has passed since the oath? And must the wife leave the house and separate from her husband in this case?

If the husband repeats the word "divorce" five times, and he intended to emphasize a single divorce, then only one divorce occurs. However, if he intended to initiate multiple divorces (for example, if he intended three divorces), then three divorces occur, and his wife becomes unlawful to him until she marries another man.

As for repeating the word "haram" five times: - If it occurs after three divorces, then nothing results from it if he intended divorce or ẓihār. However, if he intended an oath or did not intend anything, then he is obligated to offer a single expiation for an oath (kaffārat yamīn). - If it occurs before three divorces, it depends on the husband's intention: - If he intended ẓihār, then it is ẓihār, and he is obligated to offer a single expiation. - If he intended divorce, then the ruling for repeated divorce applies. - If he intended an oath or did not intend anything, then he is obligated to offer a single expiation for an oath.
