Did I err by not uncovering my face during Umrah, even though I kept my khimar connected to my clothes based on a fatwa from the Jordanian Dar Al-Ifta?

A woman in a state of ihram is prohibited from covering her face with a niqab or burqa, whether sewn into her garments or not, except in the presence of non-mahram men. What some have ruled permissible regarding covering the face with a khimar sewn into the garments is incorrect. The correct view is that this action is considered a transgression of the prohibitions of ihram if there is no necessity for it. The prevalent ruling is that a woman in ihram is absolutely forbidden from covering her face, except in the presence of men. If she covered her face out of ignorance of the ruling, there is no penalty upon her. It is preferable for the woman in the future not to cover her face during ihram if there are no men present, in order to avoid disagreement among scholars.
