How do I know if Allah is pleased with me or if He is displeased with me?

Among the most dangerous signs of Allah's wrath upon a servant are disbelief (kufr), injustice (ẓulm), intentional killing, transgression, and abandoning religious obligations. The evidence for this is His, the Almighty's, saying: (And the disbelievers - they are the wrongdoers) [Al-Baqarah: 254], and His saying: (And humiliation and destitution were struck upon them, and they returned with anger from Allah. That was because they disbelieved in the verses of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That was because they disobeyed and used to transgress) [Al-Baqarah: 61], and His, the Almighty's, saying: (He said, "There has already fallen upon you from your Lord defilement and wrath") [Al-Ma'idah: 71].

Among the manifestations of wrath is when Allah bestows blessings upon a servant but deprives him of the gratitude for them, as a gradual enticement (istidraj) for him, in accordance with His, the Almighty's, saying: (And those who deny Our signs - We will progressively lead them [to destruction] from where they do not know And I will grant them respite. Indeed, My plan is firm) [Al-A'raf: 182-183], and His, the Almighty's, saying: (So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were then in despair) [Al-An'am: 44].
