What is the ruling for one who experiences ritual impurity (janabah) and is overtaken by the Asr prayer in a city other than their place of residence, where no place for ritual bathing (ghusl) is available and returning home is difficult? And what if this situation were to happen to a woman?

It is permissible to perform tayammum (definition) (dry ablution) for both major and minor ritual impurity when water is unavailable, or when one is unable to use it due to cold, illness, or the absence of a place for ghusl (definition) (ritual bath). An individual must determine their own ability to use water. Whoever is completely unable to use water should perform tayammum and pray at the prescribed time, as Allah Almighty says: "And if you find no water, then perform tayammum with clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it." (Quran 4:43) And whoever is able to use water on some parts of their body should wash what they can and perform tayammum for the remaining parts. If the state of janabah (definition) (major ritual impurity) resulted from an illicit relationship, the person must repent and seek forgiveness.
