Is disobeying one's father by joining forums—even if they are Islamic—when he has forbidden it, considered an act of 'Uquq (disobedience to parents)?

Obeying parents in what is good is obligatory. If your father forbids you from joining certain websites and forums, you must obey him, because a father usually prevents his children out of concern for their well-being. This disobedience is considered an act of disrespect (aqūq) if the parent is harmed by it. Filial piety and showing kindness to parents are among the best acts of drawing closer to Allah, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The parent is the middle gate of Paradise." One must be cautious of the dangers of the internet, especially in times of trials and corruption.
