Is it obligatory to comply with the mosque's imam's request not to lead people in prayer, or is it permissible to lead the prayer in his absence, even if the questioner is the best reciter of the Qur'an?

The designated Imam should not be absent from leading the people in prayer except out of necessity or due to customary practice. In such cases, he must appoint a qualified deputy to lead the prayer. If his absence becomes customary, he must seek permission from the Director of Endowments and the congregation, and arrange for someone to lead the people in prayer. If he does not appoint a deputy, the congregation has the right to appoint someone suitable for the imamate, and no one should lead the congregation without their consent. It is advisable to resolve any disputes with the Imam and for Muslims to have pure hearts.
