Is one who ate food that his mother forbade him from eating—even though it was his own property—considered among those whose food and drink are unlawful?

Obeying, honoring, and being kind to parents are among the greatest duties, and Allah has coupled His right with theirs in many verses. Obeying them in what is good (ma'ruf) is obligatory. What is good is that which is not forbidden by Islamic law, does not cause excessive hardship to the child, and brings benefit to him or to both of them. Merely eating permissible food is not forbidden. However, what is forbidden is disobeying parents and not obeying them in what is good. One whose mother prevents him from something permissible should comply with her command out of righteousness towards her and obedience to her. Whoever abandons something for the sake of his parents, out of obedience to Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better. A mother does not prevent her child from what is permissible except for his own benefit.
