It is authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to bid farewell to travelers by saying: "I entrust to Allah your religion, your trust, and the last of your deeds." And Ibn Umar used to do the same. This entrusting is a supplication to Allah for the preservation of one's religion, trust, and righteous deeds, especially since travel can be a source of hardship and fear, which might affect a traveler's commitment to their religion or lead them to neglect their trust. Supplicating for preservation is a request for help and success, and it is an act of worship to Allah Almighty. The supplication may be answered, or it may be stored for the Hereafter, or evil may be averted by it.
