What is the ruling on thinking about insulting the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace—Allah forbid—without uttering it, while hating such thoughts?

If the thought is merely a fleeting self-discourse that is then repelled, there is no sin upon you, and it is forgiven. Repelling these thoughts is a sign of sound faith, and you will be rewarded for striving against them.
