Will I be held accountable on the Day of Judgment for the misguidance of my children if I divorce my irreligious wife, and they remain in her custody in a foreign country?

If a husband has exhausted all efforts to reform his wife, and these methods of reform have proven futile, then there is no blame upon him for divorcing her. He will not, by doing so, be unjust to his children or neglectful of them. If the mother is not trustworthy with the children in custody, and there is no way for him to secure their custody, then he must exert his utmost effort to communicate with them, educate them, raise them upon religion and good morals, and fortify them against deviant ideas and behaviors, seeking assistance from Allah and supplicating for them. What he is unable to do, he is excused for. However, divorce is not advised if the wife is Muslim or from the People of the Book, so that he can remain close to his children and be able to educate them and raise them upon Muslim ethics.
