What is the ruling on a husband having intercourse with his wife in a room where the Qur’an is being recited via radio or other means, or in an adjacent room where the sound of the Qur’an can be heard by both spouses?

The words of Allah are the noblest of words, and they must be glorified by avoiding their recitation or listening to them in inappropriate places or circumstances, such as during intercourse. It is therefore a matter of good manners to stop reciting the Qur’an during intercourse. The Permanent Committee was asked about the ruling on a husband having intercourse with his wife while listening to recited Qur’an from the radio for the purpose of expelling Satan. They replied that it is not permissible, and that what was reported from the Prophet ﷺ during intercourse is the saying: "(In the name of Allah, O Allah, keep Satan away from us and keep Satan away from what You have provided for us)." And that the Qur’an is too majestic and sacred to employ listening to it in this situation.
