What is the ruling on associating with disobedient people and atheists at work?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to mix with or befriend atheists and disobedient people without necessity, due to the danger this poses to both their religion and worldly life. Natures are influenced by other natures, and "a person is upon the religion of their close friend." However, mixing for ordinary business dealings or when necessary is permissible, provided that the necessity is assessed proportionally. It is advised not to accuse specific individuals of atheism, especially if they are ascribed to Islam, unless all conditions are met, all impediments are removed, and proof is established.
