Is it permissible to partially repent, so that a person repents of a specific sin without another, and does this invalidate the repentance?

Allah has commanded believers to make sincere repentance for all sins. Repentance for raising one's voice at one's mother alone is not sufficient for repenting from filial disobedience ( uquq al-walidayn), as filial disobedience includes disobeying their rightful commands.

Repentance for one sin is not valid while persisting in another sin of the same type, such as repenting from one type of usury while persisting in another type. However, repentance for one sin is valid while directly committing another sin that is unrelated or not of the same type.

Sincere repentance for disobeying one's mother and obeying her in what is right is obligatory. One must also realize the importance of the parents' right, the great reward for those who honor them, and the severe warning for those who disobey them.

Allah Almighty says: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And to parents, show good treatment. If one of them or both of them reach old age [while with you], say not to them [even] 'uff' and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they nurtured me when I was small.'"

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, invoked against those who disobey their parents and informed us that Allah will not look at them on the Day of Resurrection and that they will not enter Paradise. As long as there is life remaining, the door to repentance is open.
