It is permissible to kiss the head upon shaking hands, as it is a custom and enhances the feeling of welcome, appreciation, and love. This is permissible between a man and another man, or a woman and another woman, or a man and his (unmarriageable kin). However, shaking hands with a non-mahram woman is forbidden.
