The question

Are the pink or light brown discharges seen by the questioner before the Maghrib adhan on the second day of Ramadan, followed by the onset of menstrual bleeding after the Isha adhan, considered menstruation that necessitates making up that day? Is her fasting valid? And if the blood appeared before Maghrib without her knowledge, what is the ruling on her fasting? Should she continue fasting if the small amount of blood she saw stops?

The answer

The minimum duration for menstruation, according to the majority of scholars, is one day and one night. Accordingly, if the total amount of blood you saw does not reach one day and one night, then it is not menstruation, and your fast is valid. However, if you see blood for a full day and a night, and what you saw before Maghrib was pinkish, then it is menstruation and you must make up for that day. If it was a brownish discharge (kudrah), it is not considered menstruation unless it occurs during your regular menstrual period. If the blood did not appear until after Maghrib, then it is added to the nearest time it could have possibly exited, and its exit is considered to have occurred after Maghrib.
