What is the wife's share of the inheritance compared to the share of the sons and daughters?

The wife's share of inheritance is one-eighth if the deceased has a lineal descendant, whether male or female, a son or a daughter. There is no difference whether this descendant is from her or from another. An exception to this is if the husband's children are subject to impediments to inheritance, such as disbelief (kufr), in which case the wife's share becomes one-fourth.
