What is the expiation for a husband's triple divorce oath if he swore it under his wife's pressure to visit his mother?

If a husband visits his mother after swearing an oath of divorce to that effect, the fatwa states that the divorce takes place irrevocably, with a major, irreversible divorce (baynunah kubra). She does not become lawful for him again unless she marries another man and he consummates the marriage with her, then divorces her or dies, and her waiting period expires. Some scholars hold that if the husband intended by his oath to emphasize a point and did not intend to effect a divorce, then the divorce does not occur, and he owes an expiation for breaking an oath. However, if he intended to effect a divorce, then one divorce occurs.

Coercion that is considered valid to prevent an oath from taking effect occurs when there is fear of death, severe beating, prolonged imprisonment, or similar circumstances, and it does not apply to mere embarrassment or psychological pressure. Swearing by divorce is forbidden and is considered an oath of the wicked due to the severe consequences that result from it.
