Is it permissible to exchange an endowed book for another like it after the endowed book has been utilized?

If you have benefited from an endowed book in an unauthorized manner (such as by making comments or writing in it) and have caused it damage, then you must replace it with a book of similar or greater benefit to absolve yourself. However, if you took a Mushaf (copy of the Qur'an) from the mosque without permission, you must return it. If it is damaged or lost, you must replace it with a similar one and place it in the mosque, along with repentance and seeking forgiveness.
