Is it permissible to supplicate for success despite shortcomings in studying, and would that be considered a supplication for sin due to lack of desert?
A believer should be strong, psychologically and physically, and should take the necessary means while relying on Allah. Studying and supplication are means to achieve success. Supplicating for success is not a sinful supplication nor an aggression in it, even with shortcomings, because a Muslim always remains in need of his Lord and asks Him of His bounty, just as he supplicates for forgiveness and Paradise despite his sins.
