Does a daughter inherit the same as a male from her mother's inheritance? And do the sons of a deceased son inherit their father's share?

What a mother possesses and gives to her children during her lifetime is a gift (hiba), and justice between the children in this regard is a religiously mandated requirement. In this respect, she is like the father. Scholars have differed on the manner of equalization between males and females. The majority opinion is that equalization is achieved by giving the male the same as the female. However, Ahmad and some Shafi'i and Maliki scholars held that justice is achieved by giving the male the equivalent of two females' shares, similar to inheritance.

As for grandchildren, the preponderant opinion is that they do not fall under the rule of equalization with the children. Therefore, a deceased son has no share in the gift due to his death, and there is no sin upon the mother for specifically gifting her grandchildren from her deceased son, whether it is equal to their father's share had he been alive, or more, or less.
