What is the ruling on one who paid the fidya for fasting in cash at the beginning of the month, then learned that it is obligatory to pay it in food, day by day, or at the end of the month?

Scholars have differed regarding the advanced payment of the fidya for the elderly and the sick whose recovery is not hoped for. The Hanafis permitted it, while others prohibited it. Therefore, what the man did is permissible according to the Hanafis, but it is more cautious to re-pay the fidya as food, not its monetary value, for each day after its dawn or at the end of the month. What was paid first will be considered charity. And it is better to avoid scholarly disagreement.
