The distance between Al-Qunfudhah and Jeddah is considered a distance that permits shortening prayers. Whoever intends to reside in Jeddah for a month is not allowed to shorten the four-rak'ah prayers nor combine them, because travel is interrupted by the intention to reside for four days or more. All prayers that were shortened and combined must be re-offered, unless the one who prayed them was relying on a from a scholar who permitted that.
