What is the religious ruling on eunuchs, what laws apply to them, and do they pray with men or with women?

Castration is the removal of the testicles, and it is forbidden by consensus for humans, as it involves altering Allah's creation, cutting off progeny, and tormenting the self. As for the eunuch who has completely lost his sexual desire, he is considered among "those men who have no sexual desire" (ghayr uli al-irbah min al-rijal) who are permitted to see a woman's adornment, like dependents, and this is the opinion of the majority. Some Hanafis disagreed with this. However, the sight of someone thought to be among those without sexual desire is prohibited if it becomes clear that he does have desire, as happened with the effeminate man who used to enter upon the Mothers of the Believers. As for the rulings concerning a eunuch in acts of worship, such as prayer and ihram, they are the same as the rulings for men, and they wear what men wear.
