What is Al-Qahtani's "Nuniyyah," what is the biography of Imam Al-Qahtani, and what is the significance of his "Nuniyyah"?

Al-Qahtani's Nuniyyah is a long poetic ode containing multiple شرعية (Shariah-related) topics. Contemporary scholars have shown interest in it through explanation and teaching. The ode is characterized by its adherence to the methodology of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (the People of the Sunnah and the Community), the fluidity of its composition, the beauty of its style, and the diversity of topics it addresses in 'Aqeedah (creed), Shariah (Islamic law), and Adab (manners).

Nevertheless, there are some reservations about it, such as: the lack of a comprehensive biography of the poet; the exaggeration in including some academic issues as matters of creed; the harshness of the style at times; its inclusion of some verses that require interpretation; the lack of precise articulation of the speech of Ahlus-Sunnah in some places; and the unmethodical arrangement of its chapters.

Despite these reservations, it continues to be well-received due to its merits, though it is not recommended to consider it among the fundamental texts of creed upon which a طالب علم (student of knowledge) should rely.
