If a large portion of the thigh (about the size of a hand's palm) becomes uncovered during prayer, it must be repeated. However, the uncovering of a small portion of the 'awrah does not invalidate the prayer according to some scholars, who cite the Hadith of Amr ibn Salamah, who used to lead his people in prayer while wearing a burdah that would uncover him. Some scholars state that a man's prayer is not invalidated unless the severe 'awrah becomes visible.
