What is the ruling on a Muslim, believing, and perceptive woman performing Istikhara by means of the Holy Qur'an?

Scholars differed regarding seeking omens (fāl) from the Holy Quran. Some, like Ibn al-Arabi and al-Turtushi, prohibited it, while Al-Shafi'i and others deemed it disliked. Abu Ubayd Allah ibn Batta, however, permitted it. Ibn Taymiyyah and others favored prohibition or dislike, arguing that the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions did not do it, and because it might lead to forbidden divination (taṭayyur).
