Is it permissible for a Muslim to read the Injil merely for the sake of knowledge, and does belief in the divine books mean belief in their divine source or in what they contain?

A Muslim must believe in the divine books revealed by Allah, such as the Torah, the Gospel, and the Psalms. However, it is not permissible for him to use or read them, due to the possibility of alteration and distortion within them. He might believe falsehoods or disbelieve truths. Allah has enriched us with the Holy Quran, making those books unnecessary. It is advised to bury or burn any copies of them, except for knowledgeable scholars who may examine them to refute the opponents of Islam.
