Is it permissible for a Muslim to perform his daily litany (wird) from the night vigil (qiyam al-layl) during the period between the Maghrib adhan and its iqamah, or a little before the Isha prayer, given that he is occupied with work that extends late after the Isha prayer?

A Muslim may pray his supererogatory night prayers (wird) between Maghrib and Isha. This is considered part of the night vigil (qiyam al-layl) by some scholars, because the night begins from Maghrib until the appearance of the second dawn. It is authentically reported from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Companions used to perform supererogatory prayers between Maghrib and Isha.
