How important is it to show empathy towards Muslims?

Islam is a religion based on strengthening the bonds between Muslims. Its legislations are clear in promoting affection, mercy, and empathy among them. This brotherhood is considered a perfection of faith and has numerous benefits, including: removing the barriers of ignorance, caring for the weak and needy, supporting the oppressed, and thwarting the covetousness of enemies. The Companions provided the most splendid examples in applying these values, such as the story of Sa'd ibn al-Rabi's altruism towards 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, and the testimony of the Muhajirun to the excellent consolation provided by the Ansar.
