Is a daughter entitled to rights from a mother who caused her misery, married her twice to two unsuitable men, obstructed her university education through beatings and humiliation, preferred a corrupt maid over her and her sisters, and neglected her husband and home?
It is recommended to seek help through patience, contentment with Allah's decree, and (piety) in all circumstances, for Allah Almighty says: ["And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect."] (At-: 2-3). Filial piety is an obligation that is not negated by ill-treatment from parents, and Allah's displeasure is in their displeasure. It is advised to remember what the mother endured, to counter her wrongdoing with kindness, and to strive to please and honor her, using books and tapes to advise her, and seeking help from righteous women. Finally, make abundant supplication for a righteous husband, and there is no harm in offering oneself to a desired suitor through a guardian (wali) or his mahrams.
