A traveler becomes a resident if he intends to stay in a place for four days or more. If he travels from the place where he intended to reside and leaves its buildings, he is once again permitted to avail himself of the concessions of travel. It is permissible for a traveler to shorten prayers and break the fast once he has exited all the houses of the village from which he departs. However, before exiting the village, he is not permitted to do so.
