Are clothes—including those that have become ritually impure—purified by washing them in a washing machine by filling it with water and soap, then running it, then draining its water and refilling it with new water to run it again, even if traces of impurity remain, knowing that a small amount of water does not become impure unless it changes, and given the presence of scrupulousness regarding ritual purity?

The method mentioned for purifying clothes is sufficient: they are purified by washing them in a washing machine if the impurity itself and its easily removable traces are gone. Traces of the impurity's color that are difficult to remove are excused. It is permissible to follow the Maliki school of thought, which holds that a small amount of water does not become impure unless its characteristics change. To treat obsessive doubts (waswasah), one must turn away from them and pay no attention to them.
