Can true stories be known about the beauty of our master Yusuf (Joseph), and is it permissible to perform Istikhara (prayer for guidance) to see him in a dream? And are there known physical characteristics of our master Yusuf? And was Prophet Ya'qub (Jacob) fulfilling his da'wah (preaching) mission during his grief over Yusuf?

Joseph, peace be upon him, was given half of all beauty, and seeing him in a dream is permissible and does not require seeking guidance [istikharah]. As for Jacob's supplication for his son Joseph, there is no revealed text detailing it, nor are there details about Joseph's physical characteristics. One should rather reflect on his morals, his chastity, his activity in da'wah [inviting to Islam], and his adherence to his religion and monotheism. Emulating Joseph is important because he is one of the prophets whom Allah commanded us to follow in their guidance.
