Does the difference in reading the word "tarawnahum" (تَرَوْنَهُمْ - you see them) and "yarawnahum" (يَرَوْنَهُمْ - they see them) in verse 13 of Surah Al Imran, according to different narrations, mean that the Qur'an has been distorted or that the Messenger (peace be upon him) altered it?

Allah has guaranteed the preservation of the Holy Quran, and to claim its distortion is clear disbelief (kufr). The multiplicity of Quranic readings does not imply distortion or disarray, for all of them were revealed by Allah, transmitted by the Ummah through uninterrupted succession (tawatur), and contain no error or distortion. Ibn Hazm said: "The variation in readings is a sound consensus because all of them were transmitted from the Prophet." Ibn Taymiyyah said: "The seven readings do not contain contradiction in meaning; rather, their meanings may be in agreement or close, or both meanings are true. All these readings are true, and each reading with the other is like one verse with another verse, and it is obligatory to believe in all of them."
