What is the ruling on a husband preventing his wife from visiting some of her relatives due to his dislike for them? And is it permissible for her to visit them secretly despite his repeated prohibitions? And what about the marital problems this has caused?

A Muslim should not prevent his wife from visiting her relatives, because that is a form of severing kinship ties, which is forbidden in Islamic law. Islamic law encourages the maintenance of kinship ties. However, it is permissible to prevent her if the relatives are people of corruption and evil, and there is fear of their influence on her. If the husband insists on preventing her, then it is obligatory for her to obey him, because his right takes precedence. The scholars have distinguished between maintaining ties with parents and with other relatives.
