Is it permissible for a student to purchase real human bones for the purpose of study? Is it permissible to sell them or give them to new students? What is the correct way to dispose of them? And what should someone do who previously sold them without knowledge of the religious ruling?

It is forbidden to sell, buy, or trade the bones of deceased Muslims. They must be buried in honor of them, due to the Almighty's saying: ﴿And We have certainly honored the children of Adam﴾, and the hadith: «Breaking the bone of a dead person is like breaking it while he is alive.»

Some scholars permit the dissection of the body of a non-inviolable disbeliever for scientific necessity.

Whoever possesses bones of a Muslim must wash them, pray over them, and bury them in a pure place. If he sold any of them, he must annul the sale if possible; otherwise, he should donate its price as charity.
