Is the narration true that our master Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) wept in the cave, saying: "My eyes fell upon the eyes of Abu Jahl, and I do not think the man failed to see me"?
Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Anas ibn Malik that Abu Bakr al-Siddiq said: "I looked at the feet of the polytheists above our heads while we were in the cave, and I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, if one of them were to look beneath his feet, he would see us.' He replied: 'O Abu Bakr, what do you think of two people of whom Allah is the third?'" As for the wording mentioned in the question, it has not been reported.
