If a husband claims to have taken his divorced wife back (reconciliation) after her waiting period (iddah) has ended, and his wife denies it, then the wife's word is accepted, by the consensus of jurists. If the dispute occurs during a time when the iddah could have ended or still be ongoing, and the husband claims reconciliation while the wife claims the iddah ended before the reconciliation, then this issue is a matter of scholarly disagreement among jurists. Among them is Ibn Qudamah, who elaborated on the different opinions and presented the varying views of Shafi'i's followers.
