Is it permissible for a man to have intercourse with his wife during menstruation, and is it obligatory for the wife to prevent him from doing so, knowing that it harms her?

Having intercourse with a woman during her menstrual period is forbidden, based on the Almighty’s saying: (And they ask you about menstruation. Say, "It is a discomfort, so keep away from women during menstruation. And do not approach them until they are pure.") It is not permissible to have intercourse with her until she performs ghusl after her period ends. The gravity of this sin is indicated by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Whoever has intercourse with a menstruating woman, or with a woman in her anus, or goes to a soothsayer, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad." You must refrain from this; if you comply with him, you are an accomplice in the sin, and if he forces you, the sin is upon him.
