Is it recommended to wipe the neck during ablution?

It is not recommended to wipe the neck during ablution due to the lack of authentic evidence from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the authentic hadiths that describe the Prophet’s ablution do not mention wiping the neck. The majority of scholars, such as Malik, Shafi’i, and Ahmad, did not recommend it. Those who did recommend it relied on a weak tradition or a fabricated hadith. Such (evidence) does not contradict the authentic hadiths. The ablution of one who omits wiping the neck is valid by the consensus of scholars.
