What is the ruling on mixing and music in light of the wife living with the husband's brothers and their wives in a shared house, with the presence of musical instruments?

It is the wife's right to have an independent home with private facilities, and it is not permissible for her husband to house his brothers with her in the same home in a way that causes intermingling between them, due to the hadith: "The in-law (hamu) is death." The in-law is likened to death because he is more deserving of being prevented than a stranger. If, in addition to this, there are other reprehensible acts such as music and hanging pictures, the sin increases. It is not permissible for the wife to attend weddings that contain شرعي (Sharia-prohibited) violations such as music, and there is no obedience to the husband in this matter. She must explain the reason for her refusal. The wife must advise her husband regarding the impermissibility of forbidden intermingling with his brothers. If he insists on it and she fears falling into a violation of Sharia, then there is no blame upon her for seeking a divorce.
