Is a mother considered to be severing ties of kinship if her visits to her brother, who does not give her her rightful inheritance, are limited to Eid visits only?

Limiting visits between siblings to once a year is considered a severing of kinship ties (قطع الرحم), which is one of the major sins that Allah has associated with corruption on Earth. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A severer of kinship ties will not enter Paradise."

Severing ties is not justified by inheritance disputes or hatred. Rather, it is obligatory to maintain kinship ties even with those who mistreat or cut off relations, based on the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "The one who maintains ties is not the one who reciprocates, but the one who, when his relatives cut him off, maintains ties with them." And to one who complained about his relatives cutting him off, he said: "If you are as you say, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will continue to have a supporter from Allah against them as long as you persist in that." It is also necessary to help the mother maintain ties with her relatives.
