What is the ruling on listening to music in public places without intention or desire, and is it permissible to try to stop its playback?

We advise generally staying away from places of disobedience (sins). If there are objectionable acts in a place that cannot be left, then you should advise those who commit them. If they do not respond, then try to leave. If that is not possible, then turn away with your heart and occupy yourself with remembrance (dhikr), reciting the Quran, or contemplating Allah's cosmic signs.
