As for showing off when inviting friends, it should be addressed by striving against one's ego and sensing God's grace. Feeling joy in acts of obedience does not contradict sincerity. The recommendation of reciting Al-Fatiha and the first three verses of Al-Baqarah after completing the Quran is a matter of scholarly disagreement.
