Swearing falsely by Allah is one of the major sins. The person who commits it must offer sincere repentance. Some scholars are of the opinion that, in addition to repentance, he must offer expiation for an oath (kaffarat yameen): feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If he is unable to do so, then he must fast for three days.
