How can children honor their father who insults their mother in front of them and in front of people, and demeans her, exploiting the fact that she does not mistreat him, with the children sometimes feeling hatred towards him?

Filial piety is among the most emphasized duties. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against disobeying one's parents. Therefore, it is obligatory for children to honor their fathers and mothers. The father's mistreatment of the mother does not justify their disobedience towards him. They should advise and guide him if possible, without provoking him. They are not responsible for the father's transgressions against the mother's rights, as long as they have offered him appropriate advice that does not lead to his anger.
