What is the ruling on taking a sum of money in exchange for renewing the residency permit of a self-employed worker under sponsorship?

Sponsorship is a contract of donation and assistance, for which it is not permissible to take compensation. The فقهاء (jurists) and the Fiqh Council have stipulated this, and the Permanent Committee has prohibited taking any sum of money in exchange for sponsorship or residency. Therefore, it is not permissible to take compensation for permitting a worker to renew his residency.
